Our Conductor

Ruth McKibbin

Ruth McKibbin worked as a music teacher, choral conductor, freelance soprano soloist and cathedral chorister in Adelaide, Australia, prior to travelling to the UK in 2005. Since moving to Bath in 2006, Ruth has established a reputation as a soloist whose musical and stylistic sensitivity has been in demand by local choirs and in opera productions.

In 2008, Ruth was invited to sing as soloist with The Silver Ring Choir of Bath on their Canada tour.  Ruth was appointed as  Conductor of The Silver Ring Choir in 2009 and she welcomes the opportunity to build on the relationship established in Canada and with a Choir who play an important role in the cultural life of Bath.

Ruth describes herself as a “singer’s conductor”.  Her rehearsal methods bring together her experience and expertise as a chorister, soloist and teacher.  Her vision for The Silver Ring Choir is one of development in performing challenging and diverse repertoire focusing on vocal technique and excellence in interpretation.  Ruth is delighted with the enthusiasm and friendly rapport with choir members in rehearsals.
