Clare's Christmas Silver Date
BATH’s own jazz queen, Clare Teal will be Christmas guest this year of Bath’s celebrated Silver Ring Choir. Clare announced this to the packed audience at her sell-out show last Sunday ( Easter Sunday ) in the Theatre Royal.
Date for the show is Saturday December 9th in the Bath Forum.
The Silver Ring Christmas shows are becoming something of a tradition in the city since top singer Jamie Cullum appeared with the Silver Ring in December 2003. Jamie’s mother Yvonne is a member of the choir and it was Jamie whosuggested the Christmas date at the Forum which sold out within weeks.
In 2004 Clare Teal and her band packed the Bath Forum, the audience particularly enjoying the joint items with Clare her band and the choir. Last December it was Welsh super soprano Katherine Jenkins on stage with her Silver date and another full House of 1500. This was just two weeks after the Silver Ring had returned from a hugely successful three-week concert tour of Singapore and New Zealand.:
Clare said:
"I really enjoyed the Christmas Show two years ago, working with Grenville and The Silver Ring Choir. They are a great group and we did a few songs together that night which the audience loved.
"Singing with such a good choir is a terrific experience and this Christmas, Grenville and myself, with my music director Simon Wallace, are hoping to do even more joint pieces.
"It will be another special night for me, singing here in Bath."

Katherine Jenkins
People are still speaking about our Christmas Show with Katherine Jenkins. The Bath Forum was full and Katherine sang beautifully, including several items from her latest CD 'Living a Dream' in her programme.
The Choir's contribution included Christmas favourites such as 'Stille Nacht' and the Halleluja Chorus from the 'Messiah', as well as joint items with Katherine - 'O Holy Night', 'In the Bleak Midwinter' and, finally, 'White Christmas'.
The Bath Chronicle said: "It was a joyous collaboration and the evening finished with her joining forces with the Choir - old favourites and new discoveries."

The Choir is always keen to hear from experienced singers - perhaps you have just moved to the area and are looking to join a choir. The Silver Ring is an auditioned Choir but does not ask singers to sight-read. A love of singing and the enthusiasm to be an active member of the choir is all we ask.
